Google Drive is a personal connection. Each user connects their own Google account, and only that user can see the connection and use it in Agents and Knowledge Bases. Other people in your organization connect their own accounts.
How Profound accesses your files
Profound requests Google’sdrive.file permission, so it can only reach the files you select in Google’s file picker and the files Profound creates for you. Profound can’t list, search, or read anything else in your Drive.
That’s why connecting takes two steps: sign in to Google, then select the files or folders that Profound is allowed to use. You can add more files at any time.
Before you start
You’ll need:- A Google account with access to the files you want to use
- A Profound account with the Admin role. Only admins can connect accounts (learn more in Roles and permissions)
- A browser that allows pop-ups for Profound. The Google sign-in opens in a pop-up window
Setup guide
1
Open the Google Drive integration
- In Profound, select your organization name in the top-left corner of the platform, then select Settings.
- In the left sidebar, select Integrations under Account.
- Search for Google Drive and select it.
2
Connect your Google account
- In the Connected accounts card, select + Add account.
- In the pop-up window, sign in to Google and allow the access Profound requests.
- When the window closes, Profound shows an Account connected message, and your Google account email appears in the Connected accounts list with a Personal badge.
3
Give Profound access to files
- On the connected account row, select Add files from Google Drive (the folder icon).
- In Google’s file picker, select the files you want to use in Profound. You can select several files at once and browse shared drives.
4
Verify the connection
To confirm that Profound can reach a file:
- In Profound, create a new Agent, or open an existing Agent draft.
- Add the Get Document node from the Google Docs group, then select your account under Google Account.
- Under Document, select one of the files you added in Step 3.
- Select Test node (the play icon) and check that the output contains the document text.
Revoking access
To disconnect your Google account, go back to Integrations > Google Drive in Profound settings, open the connected account’s … menu, and select Revoke. Revoking deletes the tokens Profound stores for the account. Profound also revokes its access with Google, unless the same Google account has other active Google connections in your organization, such as Gmail or Google Search Console. Agent nodes and Knowledge Base imports that use the connection stop working until you connect the account again. If you remove Profound from your Google account’s third-party access page instead, the connection in Profound stops working and reports that it needs to be re-authorized. Revoke it in Profound and connect the account again.Troubleshooting

Closing the Google window before you finish, or declining the requested access, ends the connection attempt. Select + Add account again and complete the sign-in.If a node later reports that the integration is missing required Google permissions, the connection was made without all the requested access. Revoke it and connect the account again, allowing everything Profound requests.
